This book records the childhood memories of Ridy Högler and Arnold Rom, both born in Gottschee before the start of WWII. Using most of the photographs on Arnold's web site http://arnoldrom.com as a starting point the book covers our early childhood in Gottschee, the resettlement of our families into the region known as Untersteiermark during WWII, and our lives during the war years. Following our successful escape to Austria at the end of WWII, we both lived in Graz for several years and the book ends with our departure for the New World.
